Riku: One team.
Jeremy: Five members.
Riku: Five robots.
Jeremy: And one giant ass robot.
Riku: These two teams have a lot in common, but instead of looking at the originals, we’re looking at the newer versions of both teams.
Jeremy: 
The Mighty Morphin’ Protectors of Earth.
Riku: 
The Legendary Defenders of the Universe.
Jeremy: He’s Riku and I’m Jeremy.
Riku: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who’d win...a Death Battle.
Power Rangers:
Riku: Way back in the Cenozoic era, six Power Rangers of differentiating races were tasked with protecting all life on Earth and the Zeo Crystal.
Jeremy: However, the Green Ranger, Rita Repulsa, betrays the other Rangers and planned to take over the universe. However, the Red Ranger Zordon survives and hides the Ranger’s power source. He then does the only reasonable thing to do, get Alpha to perform a meteor strike that kills him, sends Rita to the bottom of the sea, aaaaaand kills all the dinosaurs. Wish they taught this in schools.
Riku: Well it’d be hardly accurate. However, despite Rita being sent to the bottom of the sea, it was only a matter of time before she escaped the ocean’s depths, regained her power, and terrorized the planet and eventually, the entire universe.
Jeremy: Enter x-football star, Jason Scott. He’s sent to detention after a failed prank, ends up meeting Billy and protecting him from a bully, and then Bill asks Jason for help at a gold mine. Oh, and Jason runs into a girl named Kimberly or whatever.
Riku: For whatever reason, Billy blows up the gold mine, which gets the attention of Jason, Kimberly, and two more students named Zach and Trini. This leads to the five discovering the Power Coins, the Ranger’s power source.
Jeremy: Cool. So like, they can play unlimited Arcade Games now, right?
Riku: Well, no. With these, they can do something far more interesting. The coins actually gave each student superhuman abilities. And when they connect to the Morphin Grid to, well, Morph, they become the Might Morphin’ Power Rangers.
Backgrounds:
-Name: Jason Scott.
-The Red Ranger.
-Leader of the Power Rangers.
-Former star quarterback.
-Name: Kimberly Hart.
-The Pink Ranger.
-Former cheerleader.
-Took part in a cyberbullying incident.
-Name: Billy Cranston.
-The Blue Ranger.
-Extremely intelligent.
-Is revealed to have autism (not a bad thing).
-Name: Trini Kwan.
-Yellow Ranger.
-Struggled to make friends and connect with her family.
-Is questioning her sexual orientations.
-Name: Zach Taylor.
-The Black Ranger.
-Is bilingual.
-Lives in fear of his mother’s illness.
Riku: Each Ranger has super human strength, speed, and agility. They’ve also receive training for a short amount of time before Rita’s return.
Jeremy: And that was more than enough time for them to be ready to fight some more threatening looking putties than the original. Heck, Jason’s suit allowed him to use a sweet ass sword. That’s pretty cool.
Riku: And while they can each individually fight on their own, they can always rely on their Dinozords.
Dinozords:
T-Rex Battle Zord:
-The Red Ranger’s Zord.
-Can grip onto objects with its legs.
-Has about four laser-based machine guns.
-Can leap high enough to get on Goldar.
-Metal is durable enough to take hits from Goldar.
- Like all the Dinozords.
-Makes up the upper body and arms of the Megazord.
Pterodactyl Battle Zord:
-Pink Ranger’s Zord.
-The only Zord that can fly.
-Two laser-based machine guns.
- Which are colored pink.
-Has a series of magnetic grapples on its undercarriage.
- Allows it to pick up other Zords with little to no problem.
-Forms the Megazord’s head and back.
- Along with the swords.
Triceratops Battle Zord:
-The Blue Ranger’s Zord.
-Potentially one of the less agile Zords.
-Carries multiple laser-based machine guns.
-Can create a large pulse of energy.
- Strong enough to push down Goldar.
-Could potentially use its horn to ram into things.
-Forms the Megazord’s knees, left leg, and feet.
Mastodon Battle Zord:
-The Black Ranger’s Zord.
-Can go at about the same pace as the Triceratops Battle Zord.
- May be the slowest.
-May also be less agile.
-Horns are two long energy-based weapons.
-Forms the Megazord’s right leg.
Sabertooth Battle Zord:
-The Yellow Ranger’s Zord.
-Arguably the fastest Zord.
-Can leap arguably higher than the T-Rex Battle Zord.
- Making it possibly the most agile Zord.
-Carries two laser-based machine guns.
-Forms the Megazord’s lower torso and the waist.
Jeremy: And everyone knows what these Zords can do in a serious situation. They can come together and form the mighty Megazord.
Riku: Interestingly enough, the original Megazord kept all the Power Rangers inside the head to control it. This new Megazord has them separated and near the body parts they control.
Jeremy: Billy and Zach are located on the upper thighs, Kimberly and Trini on the shoulders, and Jason near the midsection.
Megazord:
-When all the Zords combine into one.
-Each part of the Megazord is controlled by each Ranger.
- No part is really more important than the others.
-Carries twin pulse cannons on its left fist, and a blade that can extend on its right.
-Has Jet thrusters on its feet.
-Retractable wings.
-Can fight hand-to-hand on par with Goldar.
- Which was being controlled by Rita at that point.
-Has dual blades located on the back.
Jeremy: This is a pretty badass Megazord. I like it.
Riku: With their training, powers, and Zords, they managed to do what Zordon’s origins team could not; defeat Rita and save the world.
Feats:
-With their enhanced abilities, could all jump over a cliff just fine.
- Billy struggled a bit.
-All of them survived jumping off the cliff.
-Trained against Putties without their armor.
- Could’ve been fatal according to Alpha 5.
-Billy actually found the crystal.
-All took a beating from Rita.
- Trini before the others, in fact.
-Took on actual Putties with their suits on this time.
- Did need Zach and his Zord in the end.
-Each Zord tanked hits from Goldar.
-After seemingly being overwhelmed by Goldar, the Zords survived being in intense heat.
- Was able to form the Megazord afterwards.
-Suplexed Goldar without having any experience with the Megazord.
-Backhanded Rita to space.
Jeremy: You know, I think I like these guys more than the originals.
Riku: Careful with what you say. You may piss off some die hard fans. Plus, while these Power Rangers are certainly good, they don’t quite compare to the original. Of course, that’s to be expected since they only have one movie.
Weaknesses:
-They are still pretty inexperienced.
-Have been overwhelmed by Rita before.
-Billy actually died against Rita via drowning.
- Zordon did of course bring him back.
-The Megazord itself is pretty slow. Like, Pacific Rim slow.
Jeremy: I don’t think it matters all too much. They’re still a pretty kickass team.
Power Rangers:
Voltron:
Riku: For millennia, the evil Gales Empire has had an iron grip over a good portion of the universe. Civilizations destroyed, various races enslaved, and a near zero chance to stop them.
Jeremy: But the Galran King, Zarkon, wanted more than the universe under his rule. He wanted the most powerful weapon in the universe: Voltron. In fact, Zarkon was part of the original Voltron team, but then betrayed their trust after fooling them into opening a pool of Quintessence.
Riku: The Galra’s reach had grown, nearing the planet Earth. A Galra ship had captured members of the Galaxy Garrison, and what happened to remained unknown. Until one of those members escaped.
Jeremy: And this one member known as Shiro not only found his way back to Earth, he was kind of captured again by some teens.
Riku: Well, only Keith and Pidge needed to talk to him. Lance and Hunk were there for questionable reasons. Eventually, they founded the Blue Lion of Voltron, got it to the Castle of Lions, awoken the Princess, Allura, and the comic relief, Coran.
Jeremy: Hey! Are you dissing Coran!?
Riku: What? No. He really is the comic relief. Besides, why do you care so much?
Jeremy: Because! He’s Coran! The gorgeous man!
Riku.......annnnnyway, Allura told the five what they needed to do; get the other Lions and unlock the Black Lion.
Jeremy: That sounds like something from a video game.
Riku: Well, it is pretty accurate. But the Paladins did find the other four Lions, became their pilots, and protected the Castle of Lions from a Galra Fleet. From that day onward, they would train themselves to become the legendary defenders of the universe.
Backgrounds:
(Note: The team has changed a bunch from the beginning. So, I will be using the current team from the latest Season of Legendary Defender)
-Name: Takashi “Shiro” Shirogane.
-Age: 25.
-Paladin of the Black Lion.
-The leader of Voltron.
-Former Galaxy Garrison member.
-Is possibly a clone currently.
-Name: Lance.
-Age: 17.
-Paladin of the Red Lion.
-Former Blue Lion Paladin.
-Believes to have a rivalry with Keith.
-Thinks of himself as a ladies man.
-Name: Katie “Pidge” Holt.
-Age: 15.
-Paladin of the Green Lion.
-Used to hate nature.
-Absolutely loves technology, especially ones new to her.
-Disguised herself as a boy.
-Name: Allura.
-Age: Technically 19.
-New Paladin of the Blue Lion.
-Used to control the Castle of Lions in combat.
-Daughter of King Alfor.
-Frequently gets annoyed by Lance.
-Name: Hunk.
-Age: 17.
-Paladin of the Yellow Lion.
-Absolutely loves food.
-Loves tech as much as Pidge does.
-Hates any tension in the group.
Riku: Each Paladin of Voltron was given Paladin armor and helmets to match the color of their Lions...until Shiro went missing, and then Keith left and the coloring has been a little inconsistent. But hey, that’s how the original was.
Jeremy: With these suits, they can survive some pretty fatal attacks. And they can even survive in space with them for a while. It also has a highly advanced super computer, communication system, a laser gun, grapple hook and tether, holographic capabilities, and an energy shield for defense. Plus jet packs.
Riku: And each Paladin has been gifted a Bayard. Not only can this be allowed to activate special abilities for their Lions and for Voltron, but they can also act as weapons.
Jeremy: Except that Shiro doesn’t use his. Instead, he has that cool Prosthetic Arm.
Weaponry:
Shiro’s Prosthetic Arm:
-Given to him by Haggar.
-Advanced Galra technology.
-Amplifies Shiro‘s strength.
-Generates a purple energy that can cut and melt through most metals.
-Can be hacked by outside sources.
Lance’s Bayard:
-Original color was blue, but soon changed to red when piloting the Red Lion.
-Can take from of a single-shot laser rifle.
-A sniper rifle.
-Most recently, an Altean broadsword.
- Has little experience with it.
Pidge’s Bayard:
-Takes the form of a grapple hook with a knife head.
-Can deliver a high-voltage shock.
Allura’s Bayard:
-Takes the form of an energy whip.
Hunk’s Bayard:
-Takes form of a large, single-barreled blaster cannon for rapid-fire attacks.
Jeremy: But what’s possibly the best thing the Paladin’s have are their Lions.
Riku: What’s interesting about these Lions is that they’re sentient and shares a bond with their Paladins. So, should the Paladins be in any kind of trouble, the Lions will come to their safety.
Jeremy: In fact, each one differs from one another. Size aside, each Lion has their own little perks, but still carry a common set base of weaponry.
The Lions:
Standard Arsenal:
-Claws: Located at each of the Lions paws. Strong enough to tear through the armor of a Galra warship.
-Tail Laser: Mounted at the tip of the Lion’s tail.
-Mouth Cannon: Mounted within the Lion’s jaws.
-Speeder: A small transportation vehicle kept inside the Lion’s chest to traverse the environment.
-Thrusters: Mounted on each of the Lion’s back legs and on all four paws.
-Headlights.
Black Lion:
-Piloted by Shiro.
- Originally piloted by Zarkon.
-The largest of the Lions.
-Forms Voltron’s head and torso.
-Jaw Blade: Summoned at the Lion’s jaws, and is dual-bladed. Can be thrown like a boomerang.
-Wing Thrusters.
-Ephemeral Blade: Unique only to the Black Lion. Can allow it to vanquish enemies instantly and can phase through physical objects.
Red Lion:
-Piloted by Lance.
- Original pilots were Keith and Alfor.
-The fastest of the Lions.
-Forms Voltron’s right arm.
-Jaw Blade: A single blade summoned from the Lion’s jaw.
-Capable of withstanding higher temperatures than any other Lion.
-Plasma Cannon: Summoned on its back. Can shoot a powerful and massively destructive laser.
Green Lion:
-Piloted by Pidge.
- Originally Piloted by Trigel.
-Highly adaptable to working with technology.
-Forms Voltron’s left arm.
-Jaw Blade: A single blade summoned from the Lion’s jaw.
-Has a cloaking device.
-Vine Cannon: Summoned on its back. Can make plant life grow on any target it hits to bind enemy with vines.
- Has been broken through by stronger opponents.
-Carries a small shield.
Blue Lion:
-Piloted by Princess Allura.
- Previously piloted by Lance and Blaytz.
-Fairly well-balanced, but can maneuver in water better than other Lions.
-Forms Voltron’s right leg.
-Jaw Blade: A single blade summoned from the Lion’s jaw.
-Freeze Ray: Fired from its mouth. Can freeze enemies solid.
-Sonic Boom Cannon: Summoned on its back. Shoots high-frequency sound-waves to disorient enemies, disturb uneven terrain, or create a map of the environment by scanning.
Yellow Lion:
-Piloted by Hunk.
- Originally piloted by Gyrgan.
-Slowest of the Lions, but has superior armor.
- Can shrug off most enemy fire and can destroy ships just by ramming into them.
-Form’s Voltron’s left leg.
-Jaw Blade: A single blade summoned from the Lion’s jaw.
-Augmented Lion Armor: Grants the Lion a pair of larger claws. Has a booster pack that increases its strength and speed. Obviously, extra armor.
Jeremy: And everyone knows what’s next! When facing a power Robeast or giant monster in general, the Lions form up.
Riku: Sometimes, they do it to get out of a harry situation, but it is true. The Lion’s can form into the most powerful weapon in the universe; Voltron.
Voltron:
-The combination of all the Lions.
-Each part of Voltron is controlled by the Paladins.
-Has access to the mouth cannons on the Red and Green Lions.
-Can fly thanks to the thrusters on the Blue and Yellow Lion.
-The Black Lion wings can form into a shield.
-The Paladin’s Bayards can be used to unlock hidden weapons for Voltron.
-Lance can activate his to form the Blazing Sword
- Which can turn into a literal Blazing Sword when Shiro uses his Bayard.
-Hunk can use his to form a shoulder-mounted, multi-targeting cannon.
Jeremy: Having the most powerful weapon ever made must be a blast.
Riku: Voltron isn’t a toy, Jeremy.
Jeremy: Freaking liar.
Riku: But it’s not like the Paladins need Voltron for everything. The can often times solve situations without it. And because of it, they’re they’ve done great things for the universe.
Feats:
-The Paladins have freed many planets from Zarkon’s iron grip.
-Found all the Lions before Zarkon’s could despite their inexperience.
-Have destroyed plenty of Robeasts with Voltron.
-Voltron itself is capable of passing by between dimensions.
- Largely due to the material the Lions are made out of.
-When battling a dragon, Lance figured out the dragon was actually the person they were trying to save.
-Pidge has actually studied the other Paladins and exploited their weaknesses.
-Allura managed to push Blue far enough to help Voltron escape immense gravity.
-Hunk used his skills of cooking to subdue a monster.
-Shiro unlocked a hidden power of his Lion and put Zarkon in a comma.
Jeremy: They’re exceptionally skilled, have awesome space suits and weapons, and they have the most powerful weapon in the universe. How do these guys not easily beat Zarkon in one attack?
Riku: For good reasons. First of all, the ‘most powerful weapon in the universe’ title can often be thrown in the garbage. As powerful as Voltron is, it has had to separate into the Lions to effectively fight a foe. Sometimes, they’re separated by force. And let’s not forget that, while they possess some sentients, the Lions are machines, and their power has been drained multiple times before.
Weaknesses:
-The Paladins have experienced neat defeat multiple times, even with Voltron.
-The Lions have lost power on multiple occasions.
-The shield for Voltron can only last so long.
-The Lions can only take so much punishment.
-The Paladins themselves have some...duel moments sometimes.
-Multiple times, Voltron has had to split apart, whether by choice or by force.
Jeremy: Well, they’re still alive and are still giving Zarkon a good fight.
Riku: Actually...Zarkon’s dead now. He was killed by his son, Lotor.
Jeremy: Oh...well, the Paladins are still giving...um...wait, what’s their goal now?
